Safer Internet Day in Class 11

In Class 11, we focused on social media for our Internet Safety Day. We discussed the age limits for certain apps and many children were shocked to learn some apps such as Instagram have an age restriction of 13! Our visit to St Luke’s Church

Yesterday, Class 9 went to visit St Luke’s church to consolidate their learning about Christianity. They met Maureen, a retired vicar, who explained to them what happened in the church and the key beliefs of Christianity. The children were also allowed to explore the church building and ask questions. Thank you to St Luke’s and Maureen for such a warm welcome.

Reasoning in Year 6

Class 14 applied their best problem solving skills in order to find the solution to a reasoning problem. The children needed to guess a part of the overall answer and continually check if the outcome fitted the conditions of the problem. Lloyd was the first to completely solve the problem. Well done Lloyd!

In Class 11, we became TV news presenters for the BBC! Each group used their knowledge of one of Henry VIII’s six wives to create dramatic, real life scripts both in the studio and at locations (such as the Church of England). Buzz Lightyear – falling in style

Last week, we conducted an experiment into the best shape for a parachute. The criteria was that the parachute must have the most air resistance. We first created a hypothesis for which shape would be most effective to safely deliver buzz light year to the ground and why. Wife Watch!

Last week, Class 12 learnt more detail of Henry VIII’s many, many wives (6 in total) each with own interesting story and more importantly end. Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived! The Three Little Pigs

The children have been using their acting skills in English this week to retell the story of the three little pigs. First they practised in small groups and then performed for an audience. We are looking at lots of other traditional tales too and we can’t wait to start applying what we have learnt to write our own stories soon!
