Are we being safe online?

  As part of safer internet day, Class 12 focused on being safe and responsible online particularly with social media. We discussed the age limits on popular social network sites and the importance of parental guidance with using any online app or website properly. Safer Internet Day 2019

Today we had a visit from 2 of Harwood Park’s digital leaders, Tryphon and Ruby.  They discussed with Class 10 the importance of not sharing personal information online and checking age restrictions on websites, video games and apps. Children then made an online safety pledge using their learning from the lesson.

Church Visit

Class 10 are focusing on Christianity in Beliefs and Values. This week, we visited Reverend Maureen at St. Luke’s Parish Church to learn more about her church, Christianity and to share some of our own learning from this half term. Safer Internet Day

Today, Class 9 were visited by two of our Digital Leaders, Autumn and Sophie, for a lesson on Online Safety. The focus of the lesson was ‘permission’. We learned that online companies need permission to hold and share our data and if they break the rules there can be serious fines. We also discussed the importance of asking permission from our parents before doing anything online and before sharing details and photos of other people.

Today Class 5 have been thinking about how we can stay safe on line. With the help of our fantastic digital leaders, we learnt lots of useful tips like never giving out our personal information and what we can do if we are unsure about anything we see when we use the internet. Transatlantic Communications

As part of our learning about America, Class 9 have been lucky enough to receive postcards from several different states in the USA. Guess and Check!

We have been continuing to work on the guess and check reasoning strategy in Class 5. For our latest problem we needed to work with our partners to find out how many cubes must be on each plate to make a given total. We all worked fantastically well with our partners and after some perseverance we solved the problem.

Safer Internet Day!

Class 3 had a very interesting lesson on Internet Safety, led by our school Digital Leaders. In Class 11, we focused on social media for our Internet Safety Day. We discussed the age limits for certain apps and many children were shocked to learn some apps such as Instagram have an age restriction of 13!
