In linked learning, we are discussing whether we would rather be a child now or at a time in the past. In our language and communication lesson, we began a debate on whether corporal punishment was ever justified. We began the lesson with a game of thief, which required some super listening skills and a keen eye. The actual discussion was very insightful and the class made some super points:
- “It wasn’t fair, you should never hit a child”
- “if a child is behaving badly then they should be punished”
- “I’m glad I wasn’t a child back that, I wouldn’t want to be hit!”
We even managed to have a quick look at Harwood Park’s old punishment book, which showed us what bad behaviour there was and what punishment children got!
